Every year NMD (Norwegian Maritime Directorate) magazine “Navigare” and the sailor’s welfare service arrange a photography competition for sailors. It was started in 1988 and national winners advance to the Nordic finals arranged by the sailors Nordic welfare program. Sailors are invited to send in their best pictures taken at sea. Norsafe were very happy to see that in 2008 both the Norwegian and Nordic winning photos featured Norsafe products.
 Front page courtesy of NMD, Navigare | This year’s Norwegian winner was Captain Finn Jørgensen, sailing on MV “Tor Viking II”. The picture shows a Norsafe Merlin 6,15 Jet at great speed, bringing medicine to the nearby ship; “Vidar Viking”, a sister ship of MV “Thor Viking II” The picture also made the front cover of the first quarter issue. In the Nordic competition, the winner was Mikael Nord, with a picture of a Norsafe GES40 freefall lifeboat launching. The picture is named "falling" The pictures are published in NMD’s quarterly magazine “Navigare” The magazine is distributed free of charge with a circulation of 15.000 copies. A large part of the periodical is published in English.
