We are happy to announce that the Dubai Police is in the process of taking delivery of their second Munin 1200 from Norsafe. It has been tested for weeks in Norwegian winter weather, and is being finalized these days. Norsafe has also trained and certified two persons from Dubai Police in operation and maintenance at Norsafe’s head office in Norway. These boats are specially designed for operation in hot weather conditions and are fully equipped for search and rescue operations in the Arabic Gulf. Norsafe has also delivered two Munin 1200 for the Abu Dhabi Police
The Munin 1200 is equipped with 2 x 440 hp engines with 2 x Hamilton 274/0 HSRX hydraulic maneuvering. This gives a speed for approx 36 knots with crew of 3 persons.
One of the advantages with our Munin is that we can in many cases make tailor made boats for our customers when it comes to colors, engines, and extra equipment. High quality rescue boats like this is important to Norsafe, it helps us keep our position as a market leader within these segments.
The Munin has been designed and constructed for offshore use in rough water. It will provide high-sustained speeds in harsh offshore environments. The layout is arranged with a continuous main deck with seating provided for the crew and survivors in the main and front cabin. The Munin 1200 has Seating for crew of 3 or 8 persons in separate shock absorbing seating positions. Seats are purpose designed with shock absorbing capabilities to provide comfort and equipped with 4-point safety belts. Capacity is a maximum of 24 persons (including crew).
Standard propulsion is Twin Diesel Engines driving Twin Waterjets, but can be delivered with optional surface piercing propellers for even higher speed. The engines are equipped with fresh water-cooling system. Typical engine power is 2 x 440 hp. Waterjets are suitable for both shallow waters as well as high speeds in adverse conditions. The water jet minimizes the risk of injuring swimming survivors. The boat is further designed to operate away from the Mother Ship for extended periods, with sufficient range for long time operation and large walk around cabin providing a protected and comfortable environment for crew and passengers.
The lay out and performance of the boat also allow it to perform other roles, including dive support, inspection, patrol, survey and work boat duties. Statoil is one of our customers who has chosen Munin for some of their platforms. Statfjord A, Statfjord B and Statfjord C is all equipped with Munin rescue boats. Also Dubai Police department, Abu Dhabi Police, PGS and Esvagt are some of our customers who choose Munin for various projects.
